What is The Right Restaurant Reach In For You?

Restaurant reach in coolers/ freezers are available in different sizes and configurations. The applications range from glass doors for retail settings to under counter options for food prep, with as many doors as you can imagine. Choose your coolers wisely, making sure you think out the options you will need now and the near future. For one reason, these units generally pull a lot of power, so having a dedicated line isn’t necessary, but recommended.

Door options are glass, and stainless doors, with sliding, or swing door. When choosing the location of the coolers, will you will have enough room for a swing door. The stainless doors easier to clean and is more durable than plastic, but do not allow one to see what’s in the cooler without opening the doors. You can chose an 180° door, which allows the door to open 180° for pulling full pans out easier.
Size is a big factor in choosing a restaurant reach in cooler/ freezer. Make sure you measure the space, including door frames, corners, wall widths. You will need to get it in and out of doorways, etc. If you are going to buy a 3 door reach in, make sure you have the space for this large unit. This is not a unit you can move around to put it in another spot.

Choosing between bottom mount and top mount unitsTop mount units give you more cubic feet of space, and generally run cooler than a bottom mount. These units are a bit higher in cost, but last longer.

Bottom mount has easier access for servicing and cleaning, and you can store materials on top of the unit.

Try not to buy used refrigeration equipment. These units will run for a long time, but as soon as you unplug them, it goes down hill. The savings you make will and I mean will pay in service calls. Also put casters on all of your equipment for ease of cleaning underneath and to service.
